Okay guys, I finally got my Tascam Us-144, but now I can't figure out what's supposed to be connected to what, to get a signal in CuBase!.... which I upgraded a touch to CuBase LE4 that came with the Tascam, as opposed to the CuBase LE that I got with my MO6.
I've been reading the manuals and any online documentation I can find, and couldn't get squat for help from Yamaha, Steinberg, or Tascam, without all of them referring back and forth to the other!
I've certainly become much more educated in the last week about all this stuff, but now that I have the Tascam, I fee like I'm starting all over again as far as setting things up.
So any help with what should be plugged into what, and what my settings in CuBase LE4 should look like would be appreciated.
As I have it set up right now...
- I have a S/PDIF cable from the DIGITAL OUT on the MO6 to the DIGITAL IN on the Tascam US-144.
- I have the firewire/ USB cable going from the firewire slot on the Tascam to USB port on my laptop.
- I have 1/4" patch plugs going from the L/mono and R OUTPUT on the MO plugged into the L/Input and R/ Guitar INPUT in the front of the Tascam. (Somehow, I don't think this is correct, but I don't know, that's why I'm asking)
- I have the L/R LINE (Red and White audio plugs) from my M-Audio monitor/speakers going to the INPUT plugs on the Tascam.
- I don't have any MIDI plugs plugged in at all, because I thought the S/PDIF cable is supposed to eliminate the need for that. At least, that's the impression I got.
In Cubase, I have my Device Settings all pointing to the US-144 driver in the drop-down boxes. In the VST System Link dialogue box, I have ASIO Input set to US-144 ANALOG IN L, and ASIO Output set to US-144 ANALOG OUT R.
After that, I have to figure out what my setting should be in the MO6 on top of it, like whether my output should still be set to USB or if I should change it to MIDI, etc.
I hope that's enough information to give you an idea of my setup.
I can always post that question on Motifator.com forum, which yes Sparqee, I did discover that forum as well, a lot of great information there too!
Thanks again in advance for ANY help, I really appreciate it!
I'll post this over in the Troubleshooting section of the Forum too, just in case...
