The only thing about the "industry standard" in the world of home recording is there is no standard.
It's tough to beat a couple of 57s when you need a 57. I'm not huge on the Beta 52. I like the Beta 91 MUCH MUCH MUCH more.
Does the Shure DMK57-52 come with any overheads or condensers of any kind?
I'm trying to figure out what you are trying to do here. Are you trying to get enough mics to record a drum kit with everything close mic'd or are you just looking for a couple of mics for everything?
