Is your project definitely running at 24 bit? If your sound card can't handle it (either because of a setting or because it doesn't support it), your project will run at 16bit. If that's the case and you export it and add it to your project, then it will have to stay at 16 bit.

Really? I figured Cubase would still export to whatever you wanted regardless of the system. Maybe not.

Definitely! There are no 24 bit MP3s files that I'm aware of. It would defeat the purpose anyway.

Story of my life! I have always felt weird about it. About a week ago I started reading a book about the Manhatten Project. They were talking about this robo-genuis physicist dude who won like 3 Nobel Prizes. They said he ALWAYS screwed his math up each and every time. He couldn't handle details. He had to have his students do the math for him. It became a joke.
So while I have 0 Nobel prizes, I've at least learned it's okay to screw your math up!
