No I'm not running recording software and a media program at the same time. The same dropout is occuring independently.

My computer RAM is 512MB and is 160GB.

Perhaps the memory isn't enough with the Fast Track and I have had latency problems before but I've not had dropouts like this where I can't record or playback.
