And it's like the "yeses" were as random as they were inconsequential. The worse thing about it for me ('cause I made them give me damn $300 back after about six months of steady submission) is the time and frustration it cost me.
They tell one lie that's appalling. "We don't make any money on the $5/song submission fee". I did some quick math and actually it's about a full third of their revenue stream. They have no stake in whether you get anywhere: "Tell us your success stories is you get a deal/placement". Really? They are that divorced from the process. Shit, I can huck CDs at a trash can all day long and get the same results.
The bottom line is they made money the longer they can keep you in the casino, pulling the lever.
Lastly, the worst thing that happens is they cost you valuable time and get you doubting yourself, your ability, your proficiency and your validity as an artist just to take your money. If that isn't the definition of an abusive relationship, I'll eat my hat. |
