The way I see it, life is like a nerdy role playing game. You can buy a copper sword, maybe some leather armor, or maybe an education in recording school. Ultimately, you've still go to go out and slay the slimes and such and there is no real guarantee that those things will be useful.
The secret is to put the real time in. Get damn good on your own. Live it, breath it, and sleep it so that you don't even need the education....even if you do augment your fun with formal education.
