I can only think of two things:USB power management or an intermittent power supply (even the cord). This uses a very uncommon 5VDC 2000mA power supply so I don't know how you could troubleshoot that without just buying a new one. The first one though is easier. Go to WIndows (assumption here) System> Hardware>Device Manager> Root USB Controller>Properties and disable any power schemes if they are enabled.
