Is there a compelling reason not to DI? Recording live in anything but a pretty bug, well-treated room and a fairly expensive mic or two won't return a very good result.
DI: becasue it's easy and it works. Love the amp? Take the Preamp Out signal and run it through a transformer or DI box.
