Default Newbie Help! Cant hear my vocals live during recording in Cool Edit Pro 2.1

Hey Everybody...
Its my first post so be gentle.

Im truly a Newbie that has just started home recording using Cool Edit Pro 2.1.
I know there may be an easy solution for this, but how can I actually hear my vocals live through my headphones when recording over a wave track (ex. rapping over an instrumental), but I can hear the vocal after recording is done during playback?

Im using WINXP, Over 2 GB RAM...

Im using the Integrated SOundMax Digital Audio Soundcard that came with the system.

Im using an Apex 181 Condenser Microphone connected directly via USB to my computers front usb input.

I have set my Output in CoolEdit as the soundcard
and have set my record or Input as Line-In ( or the Apex 181)

I have made sure all of the volume levels are up on the soundcard and in cool edit, but I just cant hear my vocals at all live. Only after recording during playback.

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
