Re: Stereo tracks in Cubase
I want to say that Cubase VST 5 had seperate faders for each side (it's been a while).
I don't like the way the stereo tracks pan by simply lowering the volume of one side or the other. I realize this is how panning a mono track works, but if this applied to a stereo track, all you are really doing is ditching the stereo information.
Sometimes I like to pan stereo stuff 100% left and center.
Years ago I tracked a 2 guitar metal band. We doubled each guitar player so we had 4 tracks. For 1 guitarist, I panned layer #1 hard left and layer #2 about 40% right. Then for guitarist number 2, I did the opposite. So basically, you had each guitarist hard panned and another layer with them overlapping.
It did something REALLY cool for that recording.
Of course, this was done with mono electric guitar tracks, but the same could be done with acoustic guitar or any other instrument typically recorded in stereo.
