Uhmmm does it buzz on open notes or fretted notes? What type of banjo is it? is there part of the banjo thats not tightened and vibrates that causes the buzz?
With recording banjo... I've not tried yet. Maybe try a 57 close the the head to pick up the notes and and transients and a 414 to pick up that banjo'ey goodness? You never know eh?
