I love his rendition of Little Wing. His instrumentals were amazing.

Zakk Wylde said that SRV's version of "Little Wing" is proof that God exists. I agree.
And the Clapton comment reminds me of a story...in the early 60's, Jeff Beck had a standing gig in a club in California. He heard Hendrix play, flew him to Cali, and brought him to the manager and said "You've got to hear this guy, he's great." The manager agreed to put him in with the house band that night. At the time, Eric Clapton was the house band's guitar player, and was told by the manager that "if his playing starts going down, you pick it up and don't let him play again."
3 notes into the song, Clapton took off his guitar, dropped it on the ground, and walked offstage to watch the show.
(This story has not been validated. A good friend of mine that used to be my boss told me this story. He was a friend of the bassist, and heard the story after the show.)
