Default Re: New to midi controllers. what the cc?

I'm sort of starting to get my hear around this a little more now.
Midi ox is great utility, but didint really help much as I know what my keyboard is sending, but wasnt sure as how to assign this to the vsti's knobs and controls.

The table is also very helpful as some vst programmers included cc assignments within the instrument which usually follow this standard.

I needed to get my head around the concept that the vsti knobs when changed manually (with a mouse ) were not generating CC messages, but a CC message needs to be assigned to them to change thier value from a midi device...( note to self.. got it? )

So I am now looking for a midi learn function ( great little tool ) more vsti's should have them, also the reference manual for the Vsti sometimes includes a table of assigned CC messages (note to self 2... read the manual dude), and I've also discovered a function called mod matrix with some vsti's which seems to allow me to control some of the variables.

Having said all that...it's been a long time since I've worked with midi.

Thanks guys.
